What: TaTa Trot 5k run and fun walk
When: Sunday, October 10th at 2 pm
Where: Carbon Hill Park
Why: To show your support for the American Cancer Society and tatas everywhere
Here's the skinny: All participants meet at One Carbon Hill Headquarters. Walk three blocks to the park and call that our warm-up. Run or walk 3.1 miles, where exactly I do not know considering the perimeter of our tiny village of 400 residents is only 1.6 miles. Walk back to the house and call that our cool down. Recarb with cold beer, warm chili, and other assorted snacks while watching the second set of NFL games. Baby sitting services during the TaTa Trot provided in our home by The General (perspective: he would rather run the chance of being in charge of 10-plus young children than run 3 miles. That is how much he dislikes running for exercise).
Just try to convince me this doesn't sound like a great idea.
I have a few registration forms for anyone who is interested, and I can get more if needed. Cost of participating - yes, Munchkin, another race you have to pay to run in - is $15 before or $20 on the day of the event. And if you really, truly do not feel like participating in an event for a great cause, I suppose I will extend an invitation for you to just come and cheer the rest of us on and then join us back at the house. It seems like the right thing to do.
One final note, speaking of a great cause:
What: 14 Inning Relay for Life Co-Ed Softball game
When: Saturday, October 2nd at 1 pm
Where: Renfrew Park, Dwight
Why: Continued support for the American Cancer Society. Plus, it's just stupid fun.
